Fake Palestinian Checkpoint - Columbia University

On thursday 10/18/10 the Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) held a demonstration of sorts to try and depict what it feels like to go through an Israeli checkpoint in the West Bank. Instead of portraying what really happens at checkpoints or having a discussion with the dozens of pro-Israel advocates standing nearby, the SJP decided it was going to distort the facts and block a discussion. Students who were willing to participate were placed in a line, asked questions, then walked up the steps of Low plaza to be tied up, blindfolded and gagged with tape over their mouth. This is surely not what happens at West Bank checkpoints. This event was just another example of intellectual dishonesty on Columbia's campus where not even a debate was allowed by the organizers. If peace talks are supposed to get Israel and the Palestinians to a state of peace then I think it is time for SJP to recognize zionist organizations on campus that affirm Israel's right to exist and have a dialogue. Sadly when it comes to Israel, existentialism is too much to ask for...

@TheGoosemoose Yes I have been through a checkpoint and it was better than going through airport security these days. What were you looking for here in terms of a discussion? I mean the video is open for comments, whoever wants to talk can do it, no one is stopping you.

I did check point training in the Marines, and the truth is if you just let any one in; you are just asking for something bad to happen. We had fake sucide bomber too in our training...

Why wont you show a fake exploded bus, or an exploded restaurant. Or a fake sucide bomber calling for the death of Jews and any other non muslims while wearing an explosive belt.
