"MOXY's front-men was shrieking vocalist Douglas "Buzz" Shearman†. The principle song writer is Earl Johnson, who has a flamboyant guitar style alongside Buddy Caine on rhythm guitar deliver dual guitar riffs heavy on the blues.. The drumming of Bill Wade† is driven and with Terry Juric on bass drop thunderous backbeats "

Many of the guitar solos on the band's debut album were performed by guest session musician Tommy Bolin, who had previously been the lead guitarist for the James Gang and later replaced Ritchie Blackmore in Deep Purple.

San Antonio's disc jockey know as the godfather of rock, Joe Anthony , who wrote(1983) : "Buzz had that special quality in his voice that carried a smile and a lift. He penetrated himself into the listeners and was very forceful with them. He gave a definite impression to the music. His passing was untimely, but he gave us so much in such a short span. His music is his legacy

Earl Johnson & Buzz Shearman
(Solo by Bolin)

Don't you feel it gettin' crowded?
Can't even catch my breath
It's the noise and confusion
gonna lead us to our death
Can't see no solution
too bad, too bad

We're gonna fly fly baby
right away from here

We're gonna fly fly baby
right away from here

I can see the stars shinin
shinin down on me, yeah
On misty morning like ships
on a nightmare at sea

Oh the sky is my highway
but only for me
gonna take a little ride babe
your gonna fly away with me

We're gonna fly fly baby
right away from here

We're gonna fly fly baby
right away from here

Wish I was a spaceman
Payin' a visit to the stars
I'll become blue Moonrider

[Very Tommy-ish space guitar]

Moonrider filled with desire
of gettin' just a little higher

Moonrider filled with desire
of gettin' just a little higher

Waited days waited years of my life
all because of you
Now the time has arrived and I'm leavin'
Hope I'll be leavin' here with you!

Moonrider filled with desire
of gettin' just a little higher

Moonrider filled with desire
of gettin' just a little higher

[guitar solo]

Wish I was a spaceman
Payin' a visit to the stars
I'll become blue Moonrider

  • Moxy are simply one of the greatest rock bands ever and Buzz Shearman was certainly one of the greatest rock vocalists of all time.

    MOXY - Ridin' High Forever...

  • SA is still the bomb for concerts. I live in Austin and I am thankful SA is on an hour down the road. I have seen DIO, Maiden, Motley, Ratt and Michael Schenker within the last year.

  • Toronto's own MOXY, love these guys.

  • Moxy played the states before 1977. I saw them open for Black Sabbath in October 1976.

  • HOLLY CRAP !!!! Can't bellieve i just discovered this band....30 years later - thanks to I-Tunes. WOW!!! Great sound, nice voice, good songs. I can't bellieve they don't play MOXYs songs on the radio. Thank God for i-tunes, i can get their songs from there and listen what i missed all these years.

  • I grew up with Buzz in Streetsville and is one person I really miss. Before Moxy and Sherman and Peabody he was the only band at the Club Bluenote and was the best of the blues guys. Miss you Buzz......Darrell
