I had one here in the UK from 2004-2005. I loved the car but didn't like the steering, handling, or brakes. The engine was great, as was the loads of internal space. It felt so much bigger than it actually was. With stiffer springs it might have been easier to drive.

FINALLY SOMEONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO DRIVE A WARTBURG!
everyone just steps on the gas pedal till the max before shifting, they have no ear when the engine is doing too much RPM!
good car, good driving!

I owned a wartburg Knight in 1975.
It was a three cylinder two stroke with a free wheel device.I had to carry loads of two stroke oil in the boot. The body work was totally rust free Great memories

engine sound with a lot of harmonics....:-)
Love the sound of that power! What was the handling like on these cars? Did they have a solid feel?

Sounds like a Praktica Camera. I like the pickup truck version of this vehicle.
