I don't know if any of u fellow ZJ owners have experienced this problem but i fixed it as of 10/20/08 The problem was a gunked up throttle body after i did that a vacuum leak appeared which was causing high idle it turned out it was the intake manifold gasket was leaking and so was the plenum pan gasket which was also causing oil burning. Since doing this repair its has run and idled perfect

  • do you know how i can reset the miles/km to service computer? my stands on 0km and perform service . will it reset automatic when i changing the engine oil and filter?

  • Just hit the select button so till it displays the milage the at the same time hit hold set button till it resets to 3000 miles to service

  • If it's only when cold it is the temp sensor. Otherwise it is the throttle position sensor. If you fixed it (it's been a year now), at least post what the problem was.

  • Well if you had read the description you would know lol

  • 96 dodge with a 360, had the same problem, mine was the oil pressure sensor, it would shut off all the time

  • First time i have heard a Grand Cherokee having trouble starting. That took quite a few cranks.

  • Dude check your throttle body and throttle position sensor and check the crankshaft positioning sensor that might fix it

  • fuel pump problems or water in the gas

  • i think your lines were frozen because i had the same thing with my 91 gm jimmy

  • Sir that is your fuel pump

  • I LOVE JEEPS

  • lmao,I laugh when i see this...I had this exact problem with mine, you know what I had to do to get it to work?... kick the dash by the passengers side(where the fuse box, heater core, & relays in the glove box are...)started everytime when i'd do tht, otherwise did same as urs, found it on accident one day i got pissed at it.... later found out the wire harness down in tht area had 3 or so corroded bare wires... if u still can't figure it out, and push comes to shove, give it a tap.

  • @AleksFarm yea go to the screen that tells u how many miles u have left to service and pus and hold set untill it beeps then it will reset it for another 3000 miles

  • I know what the problem is . Your jeep is a piece of shit, just like mine!!! My 95 looks, sounds and runs like a bag of shit ! Well back to my "JEEP ON TOP OF BOMBFIRE" fantasy! Later!

  • fyi -> intake air control valve $45 at Checker fixed this problem for me.

  • Air idle controller $50 napa mine did it too and it fixed it
