It is not just workers from the US's so-called Big Three US auto makers in Detroit, Michigan, who are hoping a rescue package will win approval from congress.

At risk are thousands of supply and retail businesses which depend on a healthy car industry for their survival.

Al Jazeera's Tom Ackerman reports on how the repercussions could be felt far beyond Detroit.

  • let them fail.

its economics. its free trade its capitalism

nobody is going to buy cars if you give them all money. it just is delaying the inevitable

YOU WILL ALL LOSE YOUR JOBS ANYWAYS

    MARK MY WORDS

  • Gimme a break!

Lets reward the weak in society; that will guarantee a weak society!

The total (inflated) value of GM stock is 3 billion

And they want the US Taxpayer to give them 18 billion!

How would it fix anything? Isnt this a 3 decade old problem that cant be fixed by throwing money at it?

Americans are a stupid socialist country for corporations!

Want to sell autos? Creative-Innovation not money!

  • if i were you, I would listen. it is better to realize the mistakes than be proud and ignorant

  • your so off base you dont even live here so give it up!

  • This just show. Some living America trash will side with the communist and support the closing of GM.If you own a Import car u support import interest/non-usa.speaking of interest, most import car payment interest support the army and warfare of NON-constitutional rights. If U don`t have a job and can`t find one?If U can`t afford a hi-level of education? If U can buy a Home?If you can afford good health.U are the suffering of future American kids.U must re-think your import interest.

  • The worker's greed or the industry greed? Most auto workers are simple blue collar workers who simply want to put food on the table and make their house payment. The industry fatcats are the greedy ones.

  • Fuck the US auto workers!! Compete or get out!!! Buy foreign!! Toyita rules!!! Fuck American made! over priced due to worker greed!!!

  • time to go HD

  • LOL. Whatever dude! Here is something... Ever since the Republican Senate, with their slow thinking selfish selves, rejected the bail out; not only it has an affect on the US auto industry but it also has an affect on the Asian auto industry as well. I stand by my word. I don't blame the Union, the US CEO's need to resign, and the selfish, ignorant Conservative Republicans along with the greedy, ignorant US Auto CEO's can go to hell!

  • You need to get a grip on reality.

  • Who forced these CEO's to have very high bonus checks? No one! Who forced these CEO's in NOT making their companies produce affordable fuel efficient cars? No one! Can you explain about the CEO's riding in nice private jets to DC to beg for money? Would you take a non-union high skill job that pays $6.55 an hour with no health benefits, no bonuses, no vacations, no retirement ,etc? Also, I blame mostly the Con. Republicans for not cooperating when it comes to this current situation.

  • The US is crumbling !!!!

    hehehee
