you are lucky, i wish i can cook delicious food and travel across the globe.

i think the flavor is different between thai and japanese rice.

Interestingly I have tried using Japanese rice myself, and you're right, the flavors really are different. And the Thai rice is much chewier. Doesn't mean you can't use it. Try it, if you like it then there's nothing wrong with that!
