This album and Origin of Symmetry are masterpieces. Muse are a rare breed. Especially these days with so much commercial disposable music. We need new Mozarts, Beethovans, Lennons & McCartneys. Music needs a soul. Otherwise it's merely a catchy jingle.

if by irrelevant you mean nobody cares i beg to differ. i saw radiohead last year and the arena was sold out for 2 nights in a row. nobody buys tickets to see you play music. you are even more obscure and therefore irrelevant than thom yorke by your logic. and you ask who would wish for that? well too bad, you may not have wished for it, but you must deal with it.

The world is essentially ending so the band are launched into space, which has been polluted by humans. The sign the ship passed indicates that global warming has caused this to happen. The band land on a distant planet presumably Mars, only to be taken aback by the destroyed buildings surrounding them, including big Ben, revealing that the planet is not Mars, but is in fact Earth and the planet the band left was where the humans moved to after they destroyed the Earth.
