Jeff Moenich of SixStringObsession shows how to install a guitar strap button on the lower part of the neck of your guitar, simple and close-up video. A lot of inexpensive guitars do not come with this strap button, so the guitarist will tie the strap near the head of the guitar, which makes the guitar less stable and harder to hold. Attaching your guitar near the lower end of the neck secures your guitar, which makes it easier to hold and easier to play.

Jeff now has free beginner guitar lessons for kids aged 4-10 on his other YouTube channel, "kidsguitar3" 24 short, FREE videos divided into 8 lessons. Check it out!

  • So drilling into that part of the neck doesnt effect the stability of the neck?

  • @Jimmymillmo No, because you're only drilling about a half inch into solid wood.

  • Hey! Just wanted to thank you for including such detailed instructions! The thought of paying a guitar tech $15 to $25 to install one little button just seems so ridiculous! Your video helped me get over the anxiety I had about drilling a hole into my brand new guitar.

  • @Guitargal65 Glad it helped. It's not too hard if you can use a drill!

  • Any tips on installing a strap button on the butt of the guitar? I don't mind the shoelace, but my nylon is missing even the other one.

  • @Krowded I have another video that should help. It's called Guitar Endpin Installation and shows how to install the the strap button on the "butt" of the guitar. Hope it helps
