Your use of University of Phoenix is a bad example, because how many people who graduate with a U of P degree are actually hired by a hospital? U of P is not really accredited, despite what they claim on their many commercials.

But a physician who went to your run-of-the-mill state school might be more intelligent and more caring than a Harvard graduate. It might be he was just too poor to go to an Ivy League.

@resnoex1 I highly doubt that's true, but I'll concede that it might be. If it is, then Obama got a lot of that money from middle class supporters and donaters who supported his cause. McCain got most of it from rich people and corporations who wanted to keep being able to screw the working class and not get higher taxes.
