You were talking about class warfare, populism - class warfare makes good politics; it makes really bad economics but they are doubling down on the class warfare. They know they have political problems. This year, they are going to prey on peoples emotions of fear, envy, and anger and try to tap into that as a way to survive this next election.

Regarding taxes on capital:

It lowers the after tax rate of return. It makes risk-taking, lending, investing, entrepreneurship go down. We know this.

We have seen the opposite when Carter lowered the capital gains tax in 1978 and it worked, when Bill Clinton did it, when Jack Kennedy did it.

These ideas are not just Republican ideas. Democrats have put good, tax-lowering proposals in place before. You raise taxes on capital, you get less of it. You lower taxes on capital, you get more of it. Thats what creates the jobs.
