  • Can you explain the standby? Are you supposed to turn standy on first for a minute or power on first? and likewise, how do you shut it all down? Getting conflicting opinions online, thx.

  • @mebe

Always turn the power on first. Leave the amp in "standby" for a minute or so & then switch to "on". When I turn off the amp, I switch from "on" to "standby" again for a minute or so, & then turn off the "power" switch.

The idea of "standby" switch is to warm up or keep the tubes warm while the amp is in an idle position.

Hope that helps answer your question.

  • @DerDemoMeisters It does, thanks.

Also do you have issues with a noisy fan? Might look into replacing the fan for a quieter kind if its not to hard to figure out the specifics.

  • @mebe I don't notice the fan at all while I'm playing. It's very quiet. I don't even think the fan would bother me in a quiet studio setting. Definitely not a problem playing live. You won't even know that fan is there. It's a really cool feature of the amp since EL84's run really HOT.

  • Excellent demo.

I regretfully sold my Classic 30 a few years ago. I found I needed an overdrive pedal to get a good sound for solos, though, but that was probably to disguise the shortcomings in my ability. I think I'm ready for another Classic.

The best part of your demo is that you used the amp without pedals to demonstrate the actual sound of the amp. Demos with a Satchurator are pretty useless.

Nice playing too, by the way.

    Thanks for posting this.

Thanks for the comment. The Classic 50 is a cool "plug & play" amp. You are right, I played straight into the amp during the demo. I looked at the 30 when I bought the 50. I chose the 50 because I like a standby switch on tube amps. I don't think the 30 has a standby. The Classic 50 is great for jazz, blues, country & classic rock. It will do all of that without any pedals. Very versatile amp. Thanks for posting. ROCK ON!!!

  • GOOD DEMO! No need to tickle this amp, it loves having the shyte kicked out of it. This machine is the only piece of my gear that I can't sub with anything else.

"You can have my Peavey Classic 50 212 when you pry it from my cold, dead, callused, arthritic fingers!"

  • Nice Mean Street intro

  • The Peavey Classic 50 is one of the most underrated amps I know of. For the price you will not find an amp as reliable, versatile and that sounds as good as the Classic 50. This thing is pure, American made tube tone. I bought one earlier this year to use when I play at church and I absolutely love it.

  • Thanks for the video, gotta love those Classic Peavey's

  • What a great Demo, I will be buying that amp real soon, it sounds so good. Great playing Jam On!!

  • i really want to get one of these i played one at guitar center and it can play hard rock and maybe metal if you know how to dial it in but it sounds really great for like that old school hard rock (think iron maiden and ozzy) i cant wait to get one :)
