Umm... does anybody notice that the FARs likely don't apply to these pilots, as the 172 had a Canadian registration. Even though that is true, I don't believe any FARs were violated in the making of this film.

Great!

This looks fun as hell and is totally legal in every sense of the word and the regulations. I would totally try this if i had two planes, one forme and another pilot, his consent on formation and not-so-straight-and-level flight, and a tempting geographical formation to fly over/under/or through.
However....what if the engine decides to quit?
Then suddenly, SNAFU

Being a pilot who likes flying low, this just straight looks like fun. I used to live in sparse Northern Michigan and other than the few trips over parts of the lake I rarely was over 500ft. Why would you want to. For all you saying they are breaking rules..Your idiots. The FARS say 500ft from any person, vessel, vehicle, or structure. Trees and rivers don't fit in this category

Ahhh class G. How I miss real flying! No laws were broken during the filming of this as far as I can see. As a commercial pilot with a flight instructor rating, multi IFR rating, float endorsement and a few thousand hours to boot I would know a thing or two. Formation flying is legal and so is flying low in sparsely settled areas.

@portair1 DAMN STRAIT

@jeremyc311709 That would only make for more inexperienced pilot later.

Illegal- no. Smart-questionable. If you're the only guy that gets hurt when thing go bad, i don't have a problem. I fly at ten feet everyday and wouldn't be crazy about doin this. Youtube- the greatest collection of "evidence" on the planet. Both before and after,

I've been flying for thirty years and I'm well versed in the FARs and I'm here to tell you he did nothing wrong. You pseudo egg head wanna be FAA dorks are just he kind of people who are sucking the fun out of general aviation. So bite me.
