Before he made a name for himself as an actor in 80's Hollywood, Jon-Erik Hexum co-starred with his fellow students at New Jersey's Tenafly High School in the long-forgotten "Class of '76 Senior Movie", a look into everyday life at THS: its dances, magazine drives, skits, and talent shows -- a veritable time capsule of a much simpler time!

For 32 years, this epic sat untouched in Tenafly (NJ) High School Senior Advisor JP Mullin's attic, unseen by anyone -- that is, until he recently found it and graciously donated it to Hexum's fan club. Now, for the first time since 1976, this 61-minute video, originally recorded on now-extinct EIAJ-1 open reel format, along with footage from the Senior "Lack of Talent Show", has been transferred to DVD and seen for the very first time since its making!

  • Bat's breath! You're right, Cameojack!

  • Did anyone notice that Jack is wearing the same shirt than Meeno Peluce wears in Voyagers!???

  • Well, Hexumremembered is a collaborative effort of Ginger and Doug, along with some generous help on the part of JP Mullin, Jon-Erik's friend and mentor for much of his life. Jon-Erik did have a lot to share with the world, and it's a shame he wasn't around longer so we could see more of it. Thanks, cameojack, for the kind words!

  • That was great!!!

  • it is an unexpected joy... i never imagined we would have this time capsule and looking glass to his youth... he was such an astounding man... impossibly talented!

  • This was amazing. I felt so privileged being allowed to watch it and to get a glimpse into this part of Jon-Erik's life. Thank you! And a special thanks to Mr Mullin (who was quite hilarious himself in this video:) !

  • I live about 25 minutes away from Tenafly, and pass the Friendly's whenever I'm on the bus to NYC. I'm sure Tenafly was a nice place to be when Jack was there. It still is a nice, upscale neighborhood for the most part.

  • Hi Cameojack, thank you very much, the little bits of background music was my touch, kept things flowing. I still want to get the free Friendly's Ice Cream I've seen on the commercials since I was a kid, LOL. But alas, not Friendlys in New York City.

  • Ginger and Doug - you did a tremendous job w/ this footage. The welcome back cotter thing was hysterical & creative. And thank you JP Mullin for taking, keeping, and sharing this video. Why it took so long for Mr. Mullin to locate it makes me wonder and wonder and wonder. I know that you and Jack had an incredible relationship... both you and he were lucky to be there for each other. Is there a chance to get together one day and grab a beer Mr. Mullin? Perchance a burger at Friendlys?

  • I noticed about the T-shirt. Now how funny is that ;)

It's a pity we can't tell if the stripes are red.

  • I am an immense fan of Hexum. And the more I learn of him, the more I am astounded by him. He was one of a kind in the best of ways. Talent without limits and a fellow that lived life to the utmost. It is such a treat to see these films from his high school days. Thank you so much to "hexumremembered" for posting it here on youtube. A joy to watch!
