@TheALDILady The heel you are referring to is called a boomerang heel, there are a few versions of this on the internet.

In Germany we have another method to knit the heel, it's called BUMERANGFERSE. If you look for this word on youtube, you will find several vids that show how it is knitten. Does anyone know this way to knit heels? Could anyone tell me the english word for it?

I am old and foreign and a beginner. In order to understand the sock building I cut separate pieces in paper : ankle, heel, foot and toes, twice.. I took a set and built it with stickytape and drew on the other set how to knit it. It is very much like your teaching video but not the written part. I will knit it flat, 2 needles, opening from front ankle to on top of foot to toes.

Aaaah! I see. The flap looks separate and then it is picked up down the edges at either side. The pattern I had confused me. Confusion is now gone. I had not knitted socks since I was at school and I'm in my sixties now. Many, many thanks from England to US. Linda.

Wow! I have been knitting for a year and a half and I'm in the middle of making my first sock. This helped a lot!

@asainrsvideo If you have never knit a sock before, I would first try knitting in the round on something like a hat. for the sock, you have to know how to knit in the round, knit, purl, increase, decrease as well as how to pick up stitches. It is a bit harder than other projects, that is why its important to learn the basics first.
