  • Jimi was such a part of my growing up years, his talent and sound so unique. I remember one of his first band performace was a teen dance at the catholic social club across from the old KMI building and Nehru jacket were the rage then. I made him and all the others in the band bright flowered ones for the dance. He wore it for months till he finally outgrew and ripped out the arms. Gone but not forgotten!

  • Thanks Burt for posting this tune!

  • Jimmy and I used to listen to a lot of music (LPs) back in the pre-Allman days: Mayall & Clapton & the Bluesbreakers, BB King, Muddy Waters, Mike Bloomfield, John Lee Hooker, Otis Spann, Eric Burdon and the Animals, Hendrix, Paul Butterfield, etc. He always wanted to know what new album I had. He loved music! RIP Jimmy!

  • Thanks Burt for posting this tribute to Jimi Ringo. I always felt that Jimi was one of those rare musicians who had the whole package.. raw natural ability, incredible chops, great tone, superb phrasing, strong vocals, excellent stage presence, and able to always play with power and authority. The only thing that separated Jimi from a brilliant musical career was his addictions. It never seemed to matter what amp or guitar rig Jimi was playing through, he always had ‘that’ tone.

  • Last time I spoke with him was at the Beach Club on Siesta Key (Sarasota). John Henry was playing drums with the Hurricanes and Jimi was just haning out listening. The girl in the picture is Tina, his girlfriend (my friend). RIP both of you.

  • He used to hang out in my bedroom after school and look at my albums.

  • I used to jam with Jimmy at the Outlook in Venice back in the day...I liked Jimmy a lot.He was a good soul and a hell of a guitar player.I miss him...JohnLeBlanc
