Rocket 69 was obtained by my mate in 1951 from an American in the UK. We couldn't purchase any American labels like 'King' and my mate and I thought it was terrific. Three years before Bill Haley but this was better as it was more jazz orientated. Now 74 and wish they'd shove it on a CD for old times sake!

Gotta love these late 1940's/early 1950's risque R&B 78's.
Great jam session tunes.

Went to a garage sale last Saturday and bought about 100 of these old R&B 78s. Cost $50 for the lot. Gonna try to get them all on YT. Several have already been disabled for copyright issues, but most seem to have no problems. Cool!

@cdbpdx
Just curious; which ones did you post that were disabled?

@wadeharris65 This morning -Aug 17, 2010-, I posted a fine version of Herbie Haymer and his Quintet playing 'Laguna Leap' - the flip side of 'Black Market Stuff' but the copyright folks won't allow folks in the U.S. to view it, though it is available pretty much everywhere else in the world. Search YouTube for 'Laguna Leap' and you won't find it, at least in the U.S. It's a great tune by a lot of different artists, but it ain't here in the U.S.
