It's a shame that Ry Cooder was given the nod for this one in the credits. The guys playing the Karate Kids guitar was actually Roy Buchanan. An amazing guitarist.

as much as I love this movie, the guy posting this should be aware that Vai was not pissed off after Machio played the classical part, He was playing it again in his head. and he did a good job considering that he only heard it once... oh, and He's is not spelled "his"
