Paul McCartney performing "Let It Be" at Live Aid, 13 July 1985, Wembley Stadium, London. Original version where the microphone doesn't work for the first two minutes. Thank God everybody in the audience knows the words.
McCartney rerecorded his vocals 20 years later for the DVD release of the Live Aid concert.
Followed by "Do They Know It's Christmas?" by Band Aid, the Wembley finale.

Taken from the Belgian TV coverage of Live Aid on BRT.

  • Paul rocks! he;s 1 of he 4 best musicians on earth- The Beatles!!!

  • They made a great Movie about the Gig with Brendan Gleesons son playing Bob Geldolf and in the movie it was the revolving stage that caused the microphone disconnection.Every Propaganda stunt possible was pulled to make the gig happen and get all the artists to perform and to get the TV stations onboard,They saved a lot of lives the movie should be shown in schools around the world it might teach them something Worthwhile

  • wow i would of loved to seen live aid if i were alive back then paul mccartney, led zeppelin thatd be awesome

  • @DDslinky I think singing Let It Be is just right, since he was positioned at the end of the concert.

  • @lob287 He should have been backed by a band and done a full set!

  • @lob287

Well there is sense in what your saying, but if you follow the whole day, and what it was all about, there couldn't have been a better song.

  • Ya know Paul could have sang anything he wanted back then. His voice was still very strong.Instead of the predictable safe Let It Be or Hey Jude I would have liked to have seen him play Day Tripper or I've got a feeling or Helter Skelter. for a concert like this the high energy song is what works best

  • Know what really messed me up? Seeing the uber-talented Stuart Adamson singing along at the end. So sad that Big Country never got to play at this concert, they were such an amazingly brilliant band - especially live! Why Bob? Why? RIP Stuart....
