Artist Amy Balkin discusses her work in the context of science and sustainability with environmental journalist Bill Dawson. Balkin's work 'combines cross-disciplinary research and social critique to generate ambitious ways of conceiving the public domain outside current legal and discursive systems.' Her work includes projects that challenge the scope and intent of current US or international laws relating to property ownership and pollution, and which are intended to expose the limitations and ideological biases of these laws. Part arts festival, part academic symposium, Systems of Sustainability (S.O.S.) looks at creative enterprise as an integral tool for cultural growth and social change.
