Is that much afterburn normal for these engines?
Afterburn is normal on any engines but it's usually on under transient conditions.

Now that's a nice demonstrationd how exhauststacks wee able to blind the pilots while flying mightmissions during WW2. And this is just one exhaustflame let alone 6 on each side!
