NSFW: LANGUAGE. Tired of cutting hair and yarn fibers from my rug away with a razor blade, I decided to read the DC14 manual and take the brush (beater) bar guard off. Here's an easier way to clean your Dyson's brush bar.
@Brandotuomikoski The common term is beater bar .. at least in America. Kind of like how Sheet Rock, Scotch Tape and Kleenex lost their branding because anything resembling those items were called by these names regardless of the manufacturer. This is why Scotch Tape is now Scotch Brand Tape.
The best tool for this job that I've found is (I'm not sure what it's called) a seam ripper or seam cutter. It's has an extended flat area to get under the sh!t and then the sh!t is then fed to a sharp razor. It's small and pencil shaped and sized.
Seamstresses use this tool when they have to make adjustments to seams to quickly pull out the existing stitches. So you should be able to find it at a fabric shop. I "borrowed" my mother's. LOL
Dude, put a piece of newspaper down first, then you won't have to vacuum that stuff back into the machine, you can just roll up the newspaper and throw it out! An old pair of scissors works pretty well for cutting that hair off, too.
This is hilarious! I cleaned the beater bar, but couldn't get the bar aligned correctly, which resulted in the loudest noise ever. I was able to figure out which way the tabs face by watching your video. Thank you so much!!!! I was losing my mind!
I cleaned mine today, I took the bar out it was tricky, with that belt, but got it super clean. Little tricky getting the bar back in, but works as good as new.
I use a similar method, only I don't want to touch the yucky stuff that's stuck there any more than you do, so I use an old pair of needle nose pliers that can get in under the clumps I've cut with old scissors.
Nasty job any way you do it, but very necessary if you really want clean(er) carpets and floors.

So lighten up.

I love your language. It's why everyone said I shouldn't do a video, but now I am thinking I should. LOVE IT!

Thanks. You kept me company and lighthearted while I learned to clean not only the brush but detach tubes.
Runs like new again!
