I'm afraid this is silly. While there is some validity to the idea, the anatomy of the root surfaces prevents blotting from completely cleaning the plaque. If you've lost attachment with deeper pockets you'll expose concave root surfaces especially between the molars and the bristles can't get deep enough. You can see this in the video. Any good dentist will be able to use a stain to determine if your technique is working. Good flossing technique is most important.HNW D.M.D

I have watched this several times and either learn something new or refresh old information. It makes complete sense!

Reply # 3 Whether or not this works can easily be checked by using indicator paper on saliva and urine. Have you had an opportunity to try ‘blotting’ for yourself?
Apologies for the separated replies but I am limited by the numbers of characters on each

Reply # 2 Also that any technique is only as good as its ‘operator’. We have had responses from Blotting Brush users that have used the brushes and subsequently stained with first class results. Others don’t ‘get it’ or are lazy with their brushing habits and don’t see such good results.
We have to distinguish between good & bad plaque (Dr. Ellie Phillips “Kiss Your Dentist Goodbye”) hence what we need to do beside the Blotting Technique is supplement the body with a healthy, alkaline diet.

Reply # 1 Dr. Phillips proved over decades that this technique works. I spoke with Dr Phillips while he was alive and to other US dentists who use these brushes and the Blotting Technique.
You are quite correct in that the bristles aren´t long enough to reach deep pockets therefore It is important undergo deep cleaning with a dental hygienist to remove all calculus. Even better if this can be done before commencing ‘blotting’ so that the procedure is for maintenance.
