Bangladesh Science and ICT Minister Speaks to CeC Managers through video conference

The atmosphere at the Ministry of Science and ICT was charged with anticipation as Architect Yeafesh Osman, State Minister for Science and ICT, engaged in a video conference with the operators of the Community e-centers which have been established in Bagerhat, Sunamganj, Rangpur, Kishoreganj and Bramanbaria. The video conference took place on the 16th of September 2009 at the Ministry of Science and ICT in Dhaka as all CeC Managers one by one spoke to the Minister about how their respective e-centers are running .The Minister envisions a generation of people all of whom who will be digitally literate and self reliant in their ventures, and the successful video conference is a testament to the fact that such a future does await for the country- a Digital Bangladesh.
All operators appeared highly pleased with the way that the community has accepted the e-centers and at how successfully each center was running. They were highly motivated by the Ministers encouraging remarks and were completely at ease when discussing their situations. The overall session was a success and an indication of the fact that once determined , the nation can use technology in each and every aspect of their lives to achieve even the most impossible dream. Members of marginazlised communities are now communicating with the ministry through the Internet- it is only possible because the nation has grasped the importance of Information and Communication Technology ( ICT), said Science and ICT Minister , Architect Yeafesh Osman. The session ended with more encouraging remarks from the Minister and his plans to go see the centers sometime in the near future.
