The Office of Naval Research Electromagnetic Railgun located at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division, fired a world-record setting 33 megajoule shot, breaking the previous record established January, 31, 2008.

No science payload would be able to sustain the amazing g force generated going from 0 to Mach 7.5 under ~20 feet / few milliseconds. What would be required to alleviate the g force is to build a rail many miles long to increase the speed over a much longer period of time. I'm thinking of a 45 degree angle rail build on the side of a large mountain starting a few miles underground. We can build the LHC, so we could build that too.
