    They DID know each other and certainly Weingartner saw Brahms conduct. Really a link to the past, no?

    But be sure to listen to Max Fiedler conduct this work as well (He too knew Brahms--even better) That performance will excite some and infuriate others.

  • This director must have seen the great maestro Brahms in person, perhaps conducting this symphony himself!! Isn't that unbelievable???
