Sangband 9 - Soldier Ant War

In this video, I used the Detect Monsters spell to track down the soldier ants. When I got close, they started chasing me. Since all 10 of them were in a group, they quickly overwhelmed me.

To fight a battle like this, I really need a crowd control spell, which I don't have yet.

I didn't use my Scroll of Word of Recall. I know that it takes some time to use, and I waited too long to even think about it. So I was trying to get behind a door to delay the soldier ants so that I could use it, but they killed me in short order.

In Rogue-likes, this would normally be the end. Death is usually permanent. However, I picked beginner mode (a feature of Sangband) during character creation, so the game allowed me to cheat death, teleporting me back to the town with full health. This is the cheap way of playing and will no doubt earn me the scorn of Sangband players worldwide.

Notice that the town is now dark. I guess this happens whenever you get down to dungeon level 3.

Since I was now in town, I sold all the junk I was carrying, bought a lantern and oil to replace my torches, and bought a couple pieces of equipment I didn't buy before.
