90% of McCains voters were white. That is not to say they are all racist. However, the face of America today is far more diverse then that and the Republican party does not reflect that. The party has been taken over by conservative right wing religious whites. These idiots do not like change, they can't handle it and fear change. They want the US to be like it was in the 20th Century but it is a new world, its the 21st Century and they fear it.
