At U.S. Rep. West's 5/16/11 Town Hall, GOP congressman & Tea Party favorite is circled by security forces, but still gets confronted by small business owner from his district who publicly takes issue with West talking points on deficit, gets "police escort" out of the meeting, then hits home run with his own simple common sense comments in parking lot.

  • This joker at the end has no idea of how inaccurate he is. It's sad, really...

  • You're a typical Con. Weak at economics.

If you want to make the tax system simpler and more equitable, eliminate all deductions, eliminate the silly distinctions between types of income and tax individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts and estates at a single flat rate on gross income.

Why should labor be taxed more heavily than capital?

  • Typical liberal. Just because you say the tax system is regressive doesnt make it so. With no explanation as to how it is regressive it means nothing. I can direct you Federal Tax tables to back my position. You have nothing except name calling. Thats Ok I think its funny. It shows how mad you are. Ha! A flat tax by the way lowers tax for everybody presently pay tax and ask those soaking the US to pay thier fair share. Of course truly needy get exemptions. Not High school students and retired.

  • @mmac382 It makes sense to people with brains. So sorry to hear about your mentally challenged condition, where you cannot comprehend the difference between tax rate percentage and tax dollars paid. As I previously stated the regressive tax rate is between the wealthy and the middle class, not between the wealthy and the poor. A flat tax is for people with flat heads. With lower taxes the wealthy now have most of the $. Please explain how the hell that is fair for the middle class and the poor

  • @mmac382 Please stop lying. Tax cuts weren't just 6%, they also cut taxes on capital gains, which mostly benefits the wealthy. Also, lower tax rates are better for the poor and middle class. But they only add to the deficit when given to the wealthy.

  • @RawFoodKevin Where did hear that crap! And what tax cuts are you refering too! Do you pay taxes? If you are in the bottom 50% of wage earners you pay NO tax! So how does what you've said even make sense. The problem is the tax system is in fact progressive and at the same time allows the bottom 50% of wage earners pay no tax. Our tax (If we have to have one) should be flat, equal and there should be no exemptions. Everyone pays.

  • @mmac382

The problem is, the IRS tax code is regressive, not progressive. The very wealthy pay less of a percentage of their income in taxes than does the middle class. That is what counts, not the bogus propaganda parrot claim that the wealthy pay the majority of tax revenue.

This is clearly discrimination against the middle class.

Besides, it has been proven that one dollar in tax cuts for the wealthy gets back less than fifty cents on the dollar, vs. education at almost 2 dollars return.

  • @mmac382 in the world are being discriminated against, to call them oppressed is laughable. You're a drone for multi-national corporations, encouraged by Fox news and "grass roots" movements fueled and controlled by billionares, tricked into thinking you somehow constitute more than a pawn in their international financial game. A progressive tax rate is a just tax rate, I think this conversation is over.

  • @mmac382 Those successful people don't pay out of pocket to employ Americans, their personal income tax rate doesn't affect their ability to create jobs. That isn't even to mention the amount of jobs being shipped overseas by those same successful individuals where they can have work done for them for pennies a day without any form of regulation, something no tax cut will ever be able to counter. It's a pathetic notion that people who are making millions and are better off than anyone else...

  • @PossessDismiss You of course have been well endoctrinated. You've been convinced that highly succesful people should be treated differently that every other American with no valid reason as to why? They are no less American than you or I. The progressive tax system is perfect example of discrimination based on success. Those successful people employe Americans and provide the vast majority of tax revenue already. Dems have alwasy been the party hate History proves it over and over. Your a fool
