And forget any of the shit you hear about quick remedies to stick on the heads of your drums and muffle the sound. Perfectly tuned good quality heads is the only way to go! Good luck!

Dude you're not half bad, you should step up your gear for sure. I can't tell what you're playing, but the reason why your toms sound so loose and "boingey" is probably because you're playing the garbage single ply heads that came with your kit. Upgrade to some 2-ply pinstripes or the like and you'll get a much fuller/richer sound. Just my advice!
