@doktorbimmer I dunno I helped pull aprt an engine from an old RX4 years ago and it looked ALOT like this. They started in the RE 100 (Rotary engine 100) were found in the Capella's and of course all of the RX series. They arent the same as their airplane counterparts of course but have always been refered to as a rotary.

@dvaifilmsdotcom Wankel is the technical term for this "Rotary" engine, named after the guy who made it. Rotary is the type of stuff you see in Aeroplanes (Propeller)
-
someone explain the difference in WANKEL and ROTARY
-
@GeneralG1810 WRONG!
-
@sergeant5027 Wankel IS rotary
-
This is the probably the best video I have seen that demonstrates the Wankel engine in action. Thank you!

@yfz450lrd Perhaps its you that should do some research, Rotary engines all have fixed Crank/Main Shaft regardless if they use pistons or not.
The engine shown here is a Wankel KKM type, it is not a Rotary
Wankel did invent a Rotary (the DKM) No one builds the DKM engine.
Mazda confuses the the non-technical folks by calling its version of the Wankel KKM a "Mazda Rotary"

@Deksametazon1 you should do some research
