The Zoo-phonics program is used to teach children letters and sounds. Cullen has successfully used Zoo-phonics in her classroom for several years and gives her recommendation. There are all types of products for the home at the Zoo-phonics website: http://www.zoophonics.com/

For grown ups Cullen reviews preschool related products. Feel free to ask Cullen about a preschool product.

  • I am interested in buying this for my daughter. Do you know after the Kindergarten level what they should know and how well they read? Its a little pricey so I want to make sure I get my moneys worth.

  • Hello,

You know I have been working with Preschoolers for so long that I don't want to steer you in the wrong direction in answering your question incorrectly. You could email Zoo Phonics and see what they say...do you know any Kindergarten teachers to ask? It is a great program and instead of purchasing the whole program you could see if you could just purchase the large flash cards or use something like LeapFrog.

Sorry I am not of more help,

    Cullen :)

  • I love Zoo-phonics too! I agree with you int thinking that the children should learn the sounds that the letters make and then learn the names of the animals. If not they may think that the name of the letter is bubba bear rather than "b." Thanks for your comment.

    Cullen :)

  • Zoo phonics is the best. I taught a group of 2's all of the sounds. In my daughters kindergarten they enforce teaching the names first. I wish they did this kinesthetic sound/phonemes approach...the kids love it, they can learn to read and write with the sounds. It confuses them to spell out a word w/ letter names.....But then again I'm not the expert.
