The guy up ahead misjudges a turn and goes wide, sideswiping a police car, he goes down. Bike number 2 sees it and grabs the front brake, does an endo to avoid hitting guy 1. This all happened seconds before I came around the blind corner, by the time I saw the bike in the middle of the road I had one second to react. I slowed down as much as possible and tried to avoid the bike but could not turn fast enough to avoid a direct hit to guy 1's gas tank. I fly off and my bike goes up into the air and lands upside down and falls away from me. Everyone was able to walk away with only minor injuries, Guy 2's bike was still rideable.

Thanks to everyone who helped out and thanks to power_ballad for capturing and letting me use the footage

  • That sucks, I know you just got that bike. I guess the protective gear worked.

  • @ImRamro Yup, I had it for 127 days and put 2200 miles on it, the gear did its job.

  • The 2d and 3d crashes prove the rightness of the 4-second rule. Need 1 second to recognize danger, another second to react positively to the danger, and then 2 seconds more to rejoice for avoiding the collision. Remember this at least: For every 1 mile per hour you ride, you cover 1.467 feet per second. At 30 mph, you travel 33 feet in the second your mind says "Danger!" and will need another 33 feet or so to brake or swerve in time to avoid the danger. Give yourselves that cushion, guys!

  • @zany2x You're right, we may have been a little close, I was about 4 seconds behind the guy who crashed though, but because it was a blind turn I didn't see he was in the road until about 1 second before the hit. We were also just entering the twistys so we were still in "highway" formation and staggered, which is why I was on the inside of the turn.

  • I hope your bike is ok.Glad everyone involved could walk away from it.

  • @VampyrMentality Thanks for hoping its ok, but sadly it isn't, but everyone involved is so that's good, of course there will be a video when I get a new one :)

  • Gear will save your life! Looks like the cop was decent about it.

  • It's quite evident that you target fixated on the crashed bikes and drove straight in to them instead of attempting to swerve to the left like the other riders.

    Sucks.

  • Dude prob freaked out when he saw the cop. Gotta keep more space in between yall. Luckily you lived, so you can learn.

  • @mcl768 Well, actually you want to be at least 4 seconds behind the rider directly in front of you. The rider who filmed your spectacular crash had the right idea -- he was about 5 seconds behind you.

So much to learn in riding a motorcycle on the street. At least with this crash, you get another chance to ride smarter.

  • @JeddLawler

Yep, when I saw it was the CHP, I fixated on the car, and ... you know the rest. Man, life is gonna suck. If I ever get pulled over, I just know their computer is going to scream cop hater!
