CM Punk vs. Classic Colt Cabana from an AWA Superstars of Wrestling show at the Cubby Bear North in Lincolnshire, IL. The match took place on December 18, 2001.

Complete results of the show:
Ring announcer Justin Roberts opened the show with a bad WWF gimmick match.

El Conquistador pinned Kimchee.

After a reverse decision enforced by Dale Gagne, Brad Bradley was victorious
over Brandon Blayze

*The Patriot pinned Sir Adrian Lynch.

*Colt Cabana pinned CM Punk in an incredible match that broke Punk's nose.

*"Sexy" Ace Steele pinned "Iceman" Vic Capri.

*Justin Roberts interviewed Tough Enough's Josh Matthews until Dale Gagne
interrupted. Gagne mentioned he could never beat Vince McMahon and in order
to earn Vince's respect to try and join him-Dale would start his own "Kiss My
Ass contest" and claimed that Josh would be the first member to join. Dale
was interrupted by Jonnie Stewart who said that would not happen and instead
there would be a "kick my ass club" since Jonnie never signed Dale's name on
the contract when buying the rights to the AWA title, and Jonnie owned the
company himself. This led to a title match for Josh when the AWA heavyweight
champion, "The Underwear Model" Eric Priest came out to help Dale.

*Josh Matthews over Eric Priest via disqualification.

*The Road Dogg Jesse James pinned "Dangerous" Danny Dominion after hitting a
flying body press off the balcony!

  • Awesome match! Have been enjoying your posts! Do you have the Eric Priest vs Josh Mathews match from this card? Would really appericate it if you could post it.

  • @Vlais85 I don't have the dvd of this show anymore. Sorry!

  • Can you post the match of Vic Capri and Ace Steel?

  • @pavelka37 I uploaded it last night to my channel.

  • A few things need to be pointed out here. One, the ring announcer is indeed Justin Roberts. Two, this was actually an AWA show. A phony AWA of some sort (not sure of the whole story), but AWA nonetheless. Three, it took place at the Cubby Bear North.

  • @rwgdavis thanks. I updated the video information.

  • this match than most of the shit the wwe pump out these days. I'd love to see CM Punk vs Jericho in a feud allowed to let it all go, wrestle like this, it would be awesome

  • Oh man! If Punk wrestles like this in WWE these days, everything would be great!

  • When will the WWE wake up and see Colt is as good or better than eveyone on their roster. Is it fear of yet another indy wrestler being loved more than the hand picked goons they hire?

  • 9:14 "That's his bowling finger" LMAO

  • AWESOME MATCH!! I wish the WWE had kept Colt Cabana.....

  • I love this style

  • almost 10 years ago today... from working to a club to WWE champ. CM PUNK!!!!

  • CM Punk has always been amazing.

  • @dalergagne So this wasn't the Cubby Bear North in Lincolnshire? And didn't I say "this was actually an AWA show.... AWA nonetheless"? Heck, I'm not denying the show was called AWA (this video was originally billed as an NWA Midwest show, so I accept your "thank you"..... oh wait). But, as the legal system showed, it shouldn't have been. Hence, a phony AWA of some sort.

  • @rwgdavis A few things pointed out by "rwgdavis" are incorrect other than the ring announcer is Justin Roberts. In fact, "rwgdavis" has no clue regarding a "phony AWA". Do your research and find that the show was indeed the AWA. The one Vince McMahon sued me for. Remember. I'm pretty sure Vince wasn't suing a "phony" or "fake" company or people. Ask C.M. Punk and Colt Cabana who they worked for and who gave them their shot. Oh yeah, the "fake" AWA must have.
