Thank you for this video, I remember watching it when it fist came out and reading the book. It is a great and very accurate retelling of the Custer story.

Most of the soldiers who knew Custer and the survivors of this battle said that Custer was arrogant, mean-spirited, cocky, and treated his men like crap and that most of the men hated Custer. It's pretty clear that Benteen didn't like him either. It looks like they let Custer "get his due" because of the way he treated everyone and didn't offer him any help. It wasn't much of a "last stand" because Custer attacked a force that outnumbered him 10 to 1. His ego got him and his men killed.

Custer was a brave military leader on a level that most of us cant really understand.´The soiux raped and killed some to. I am from Sweden and this mans couruge is legendary. Lets not talk about that. I have read alot. The He was an instrument of the governement.

This is the best film on the General Custer life, I like the screenplay, the music, the scenes and Gary Cole is perfect in his performance.

Odd time; a time when there was more outside than inside, and yet these people wanted there to be more inside than outside. They saw everything around them that came to be there from outside their own hands as an impediment, a nuisance, a bother, an embarrassment. Things not be loved or wondered over, but moved, crushed, and scourged. Or integrated as a testament to the civil and new Inside. There is so much inside now that we look with longing at the outside through tight light windows.

to the first comment here..... despite American politics now... back then there were no Americans yet... Most of Custer's army were men of direct European origins, French, Irish, and Germans, who came to what became the United States to steal land from the Indians, land they would never have gotten in Europe. Americans came much later... funny that people forget that. The European spread went on to include Australia, Canada, and of course Africa...

If you think this movie is good, you should read the book, it's the same name. I read it 4 times and it never gets boring. This movie is more accurate than any other Custer movie. Also read the book Bury my heart at Wounded Knee. Excellent!!!! Also read My Life on the Plains by Custer. A pack of bullshit. Custer was a total racist backed up by the U.S. government. Nothing has changed except for the demographics.
Irregardless to what you think of Custer or treatment towards the Indians, this is a stellar production with great acting, excellent production design and a wonderful musical score.

American politics is always the same, nothing changed!!! USA will do what they want. Do not care about Sioux, Indians, or Iraq, Pakistan (Vietnam, Korea) people.. They need money with or without blood-bath... There is only one change: from gold-diggers to oil-diggers..
