1985 BMW R80RT

My beautiful rat bike!
Modified by the previous owner. The criteria for the mods were a weekend, some beer, a tin opener and some spraypaint.
The chopper handlebars make it very comfortable to ride and it runs smooth as anything. Great for trips.
Goes like the clappers too!
Doesn't look like much but mechanically top notch and great fun to ride.

Am also thinking about making an easilly removable camera mount that will fit on both bikes (see videos).
Any ideas on cheap simple sollutions welcomed :)

Cheers anyhoo, I was thinking today about how much I love this bike.

It's only been changed slightly since this video was made but not by much, added a screen etc.

It's so much fun to ride! 4th gear will take you from 20 to 120 rather quickly, no need to mess around with gears and if you want a sports bike it can do a very good impression!

I've owned 37 bikes. most for only a year at best, then I bought an '87 R80R/T I owned it for 13 years! it had done 365000 when i picked it up..975000 when I sold it, gave it oil gas tyres and the odd fork seal, gearbox bearing, carby diaphragm, and rode it hard everyday and I mean hard, then i sold it and the bloke put the motor in a race bike..and won the b.e.a.r.s. cup, I miss it like hell, ride free bro, awesome choice. green I am. lol

You're right, it's now an even more comfortable sports tourer! Those bars make it so incredibly comfortable to ride, I really suggest trying them ... no more sports bikes for me (even tho this thing has left Ducatis in the dust tho not with me riding of course!)

That bike looks great dude....... love the sound, i tried to video my exhaust sound but cant get it to work..tried a camara, a phone, even an mp3 with a mic, still the sound is crap. What did you end up using?
