Johnny Mathis ~ Moon River ~ Live ~

So pleased to share this very beautiful video of Johnny singing "Moon River", composed by Johnny Mercer and Henry Mancini, in 1997 on a special celebrating the songs of Johnny Mercer

This year and next week, Wed. Nov. 18th, marks the centennial of Mercer's birth. Celebrations and tributes have taken place throughout the year at various Pops concerts, radio performances, and in Savannah, GA, Mercer's place of birth, where a statue in his honor will be unveiled next week. Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will hold a day-long retrospective of films with his music on Wed. the 18th, including a documentary about Mercer produced and directed by Clint Eastwood called "The Dream's On Me"., 6pm, ET. "Breakfast at Tiffany's" will play at midnight, ET.

@serpentinecreature - Truly- he uses his voice- as has been said by many - as an 'instrument'- treating it with the care of a Stradivarius violin- and 'playing' with every note to it's fullest. Enjoy.

Never understood the words to this song when I was young.. Now, when I see a full moon and a river of clouds go by it...I pop in this Johnny Mathis song...it brings the view to life in my mind. Try it sometime, it will take you away.
