@lutherangamer (continued from comment below) I believe brother Piper's intent is for us to "count everything as loss" for the building up of the true Church. In other words to "risk everything" by putting Christ first in our lives for the building of a Church that follows the principle set forth in Romans 12:2 "Donot be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."

@lutherangamer Dear brother, I appreciate your word concerning partaking in what the Church does. You are right in saying that individual evangelism looses balance. The the principle established in Mark 6:7 is that evangelism is the work of the corporate body and thus disciples of Christ should be sent out at least "two by two." I think brother Piper would agree with you. In this video he stated "it will cost you your life to build a Church that doesn't live like the rest of the world."

I don't know. I think it's better to just be in a church and partake in what it does. Often times in life there is room for personal initiative, but most of evangelism should come from the church, or it gets too freaky and looses balance. I do like some of Piper's videos, but he is annoying me sometimes with that perpetual smile and the gestures and everything. He also doesn't seem to recognize people's needs. Always just challenge after challenge, without any comforting. No balance.

@RockSprites John Piper is not saying we are to foolishly risk our lives by jumping out in front of a moving bus to see if God performs some miracle to save us. He is saying living out Chirst in our individual lives is a risk. Following the command of Matthew 28:19 & 20 is a very risky thing to do especially in many countries where freedom of religion is limited or non-existant. Sacrificing our time and other resources to advance the kingdom of God no matter what our occupation is a risk.

@subashbala my existence is irrelevant. Life has no purpose other than to copy itself, however one can choose to make something good of the time it takes to complete a generation (a life time). Wimps like me spend our days not reading "holy books" and making this world a better place for rational people.

@Strefanasha Your opinion itself is flawed.First , The weak in faith would never take risks and hence never face problems. It is only the strong willed and full of faith that will go . Second, taking a risk here is not relying on the flesh, it is relying on God's strength to accomplish God's will on earth . If anyone tried to rely on his flesh ( forget about taking risks), he will go nowhere....

If you believe in the Holy and Terrible wrath of as Righteous God you may well consider.

HIS commandments are not burdensome, yours are crushing. so i will NOT follow you and you, relying on the will of the flesh, are likely already damned.

this is the opposite error to that of the propserity preachers. you do not know God any more than they do
