Staying out of the wheel chair and determine to exercise even when you are tired can keep you standing and walking.

  • Oh no you can get out of a wheelchair with MS! Read my blog: standup4ms.blogspot.com and follow me on twitter @standup4ms

  • Please do not listen to this lady if you are newly diagnosed. She is not telling the truth about the drugs, nor anything else. I've had MS over 25 years and no one can predict your future with this disease. Exercising is good, but that's the only thing she can say correctly.

  • you are wrong about the wheelchair i walk i also use a chair its a blessing to have or i would`nt do or go places i have it as a standby ! I hate the chair but as for traveling abroad the airlines are fantastic ! Use a chair as a standby when you know you will not be able to do the things you want to do! Believe me its no luxury item but dont be afraid of it.

  • The comment about drugs and the immune system is not supported by empirical research, and wheelchairs can get people out of their houses and into the world. Exercise is, of course, excellent for everybody. They're all tools we can use to help us get by and it does nobody any good to deny themselves help wherever it comes from.

I've had MS for a few years now, and to be honest, the most tiresome aspect of the illness for me are the smug, drug-free, organic and yogic self-righteous types.

  • Look I have had MS for 30 years been in wheelchair out of chair back in chair.. It doesn't quite work the way she says... But excercise is very important. I have a power chair and a service dog. Use both the dog for walking and the chair for long distances. what am I supposed to do stay stuck in the house if my son wants to go ride his bike I don't want to miss out.. This disease is what it is so do what you have to to survive!!!

  • everyone is different. I don't require a wheelchair but if i woke up and couldn't walk I would use one. Better than dragging yourself across the floor!

  • Oh Pu-Leeeze.

MS has hit me so hard- from working 9 hour days, driving, living a great life, then

BOOM! I could not walk anymore- The ower chair has given me my life back.

    Who is this..."bird"????

  • i agree 100% EXCEPT if the only way you can get somewhere safely is in a w/c or scooter, use it. it is a tool and it is better than not going or falling.

    keep up the good work.
