Evan Christopher performing Sidney Bechet's Petite Fleur with the
Pierre Christophe trio. This tribute to Bechet was a part of France's
2009 jazz award show, "Les Victoires du Jazz." It was broadcast on
France 3 television on September 3, 2009. Evan CHRISTOPHER (clarinet)
Pierre CHRISTOPHE (piano), Raphael DEVER (bass) Mourad BENHAMMOU
(drums).

  • Albert System from SELMER. This horn is a M serie (30's) owned before by Kenny Davern (not played because Davern just played on Boehm)

  • its not the instrument its the player

  • This type of clarinet is known in English-speaking countries as Albert system or simple system, though it is not, parodoxically, easier to play than the nowadays more usual Boehm system. This is the most swinging version of Petite Fleur that I'vr ever heard. Yes indeed, Go Evan.
