Lightrail meet at Pioneer Square Station

In downtown Seattle, there is a tunnel under the city that hosts buses and light rail trains. While waiting in Pioneer Square Station to catch the south bound train (my ride home) I caught a meet between a north bound train, and my southbound train.

Has the investment in light rail paid off?

@adelgado75 Depends on who you ask, but I would say so. It is currently being extended north to the University of Washington, and plans call for it to be extended east as well.

I wonder why these cars are so tall ?

@peterpocasset The cars are low floor cars (except for the ends), a person in a wheelchair doesn't need a lift to enter the train, the just roll right in. Because of that, all the electrical, signal and control equipment except for the power trucks and brakes goes on the roof.

Yes, although they are all gas powered, the only electric wires in the tunnel now are for the light rail trains.
