Antonov cargo plane delivers NH-90 helicopters to RNZAF

RNZAF took delivery of the first two NH-90 helicopters. The helicopters were flown in by a Russian Antonov plane and moved to the new hangar facility at Ohakea. We'll keep you updated and have footage of the helicopters first New Zealand flight.

@4lifeNz Your are correct, the NH-90 is a troop transport/ Medium attack helicopter. Which increases our combat effiency hugely in the Air. Id be happy to see one of them flying above me when Im on exercise..... Only seen the Iro's, while pretty cool to ride in, not very comftorble and I always think Im going to fall out!

Guess the NH90 won't be deploying anywhere in a hurry....will they even fit in one of the Hercs??

I still reckon NZ should get some UH-60 Blackhawks and they would look mint in NZ colours but I welcome the NH90.

Taking over the UH-1's role, so transporting troops, police ops, SAR, civil defence etc.

Also it's a light or medium attack helicopter,(i think medium from memory).

Also the bonus of it being faster, fit more troops etc
