Next Generation computing is seeing the shift in computer control paradigm using gestures using kinect, move, etc.
Here is a Demo video of a Computer Vision project demonstrating power of simple inbuilt computer webcam to simulate hand gestures to drive and perform various computer functions like clicking, browsing, scrolling, etc.

  • it's nice but . . . can we download this or is just a project

  • @sekaiFR Hi. Thanks fr liking it. :) This was basically my Bachelor's thesis project. It needs more polishing before I can make it available for download and trust me I am working on it. :)

  • nice work .this tech would be amazing for giving presentations and playing fps games .i hope u dont need any external hardware apart from a webcam .but apart from ppts and fps games i dont see myself using it .how far do u have to be from the camera to use it properly ?.really sorry for being negative but im not a supporter of gesture technology in general .hope u guys come up with something to change my mindset .Best of luck.

  • @karankhokhar1 The distance will depend on the resolution and internal setting from code. I understand your skeptism of using gesture technology but this technology can actually be refined to a very good extent. So, u can actually use gestures while entering a room and play music directly in a computer sitting 12ft away, or turn on or off the lights of a room in similar fashion.. the list goes on..

But I highly appreciate your honest view, and it will greatly help in fine tuning this project.

  • Really impressive work...but as far as improvements go i would like you to try to make the cursor move more smoother and i would also like you to make use of finger gestures instead of using your whole hand....All the best!!

  • @deafndumbnblind Thanks :) Yes, cursor smoothing is one thing thats on our minds too. Some mapping issue over there. Will surely improve. Thanks for your suggestion again :)

  • awesome!! :) :)

  • @MrBenCaesar It's not open source actually. But I'd be happy to answer any specific questions you have about it. Cheers!! :) and Merry Christmas :)

  • I worked on a similar project a few years ago. They had less gesture recognition (on clicked or unclicked), but we built several applications, like moving a robot arm, making a TV remote and some games that use a similar interface.

  • Really Awesome work...havent seen such stuff lately :)

  • gud work..!!
