This is my small 45 watt solar system that I cobbled together out of parts from here and there. All the output from the inverter is going through a watt meter so I can keep track of my usage. I have 170 A/hr of battery storage, a 750 watt power inverter, three 15 watt Harbor Freight solar panels and a 15 amp battery charger that I can plug into the grid or my generator if the power is out. Certainly will keep the Wii going in a ice storm.

  • It's a fact that batteries sitting on a concrete floor as these are, gets drained of energy much faster than those sitting on wood or plastic.

  • @Infinitevoyager See my solar bar update vid. They have their own "house" now.

  • People are buying those Harbor freight panels and making large solar arrays out of them. I guess the panels aren't too bad. You just need as many as you can get of them. Sometimes they have a coupon for a hundred fifty bucks for another system so you can double up. Meromorphic panels are pretty great because they dont lose power in the heat. Pretty cool after the colasp of the dollar you will be glad that you have it. I wish I could get enough batteries to run my fridge over nite.

  • @shartne I'm going to get one of those dorm fridges and see how long it will run with this setup. I figure some refrigeration is better than no refrigeration. Thanks for the comment and watching.

  • My husband says you should be running higher gauge aka larger extension cords, this will lessen the amps lost by drag....he says you should also try to shorten the distance, like using shorter cords when ever possible....like if you are using a 100 foot cord to cross 30 feet, switch to a 50 foot cord. Over all he liked your video. p.s. we have one of the h.f. sets as well.

  • @Fate3d2003 No it doesn't. That's a myth.

  • i got the same things, the harbor frieght charge controler, the inverter and the watt meter, lol. great start now just keep adding to it and your well on your way

  • Good job, I want to get a system like this to power one 12v outlet for now and expand it later. Keep the videos coming.

  • Neat setup.

We have a great price on solar modules of all sizes and for different applications, visit our site.

  • @fatturdburger After a year of messing around with wind and solar. First choice would be Solar. Cheaper all the way around and a constant producer. Search for ecobusinesslinks. They have a link for solar panel prices. Watch for awhile especially during the winter near the end of the year. Might find some good prices. I found a company that gave 30 % off during Christmas to dump over stock.
