@octaviano1296 See my post 'Babylon' for one release on the orange series. Terry and Jerry's 'People are doing it every day' and The Cliques 'Girl of my dreams', both big numbers among Jamaicans at that time, appeared in the blues series.

@octaviano1296 Ska Beat was a small British label run out of a record shop in Stamford Hill, North London by a Jewish couple called Rita and Benny who put out Jamaican records for the diaspora who were coming to the U.K. in large numbers by the early 60s. Rita and Benny also had a label called 'R and B' (Rita and Benny', geddit?) which also put out some great ska records on the orange series and some American rhythm and blues records on its blue series.

@EagerBoy59 Interesting! I''ve red that 'Simmer Down', recorded in late 1963, sold about 60.000 copies in the first months of 1964. Jamaica had in 1964 less than 2 million inhabitants, so you can imagine what a huge national hit it was. Never knew the other side of the single ''Simmer Down'' was ''I don''t need your love''. Can you give some further information about the lable? Thanks in advance. Greetings

@octaviano1296 This is the other side of 'Simmer Down' on my single.

@thighmister Bob Marley. This must be late 1963 or 1964. About the same time "Simmer Down" was recorded.

This song is a dance magnet!
I played in a ska/reggae band in the late 80s and whenever we broke into this song people gravitated to the dance floor. The background singers can really groove the song. Thank you very much for posting this song! :)

I can't believe you have this record!!!! I have been looking for this since I started collecting. I have never seen an original until now.
