The Scapa Flow was a strategic stretch of water in the Orkneys during both world wars. The distillery was one of the two from this group of remote Scottish islands north of the Scottish mainland. I personally have visited this distillery twice as well as Highland Park which used to be the most northerly distillery before the Blackwood distillers project from Shetland. The whisky comes with a pale gold colour with a strong scent of ripe pear mixed with honey, dry grass and vanilla wood. The body is light medium with more pear and much spicy vanilla, dark bitter chocolate, European fruit candy drops and generally bourbon cask characters. The finish is surprising long and lingering. It's a great restorative malt before or after dinner malt. (Rating 87-89 points) by Michael Lam of the Beverage Review

  • Good shirt, dude!!

  • Thanks! Very old jersey and...I wouldn't dare to wear in Ibrox!

  • I like your reviews, but you need to put a wee splash of water into your whisky. It brings out the complexity of the flavours.

  • I always put a dash of water in cask strength whiskies but 40-43-46% I sometimes would. It all depends on the taste I get from it. Many whiskies naturally releases it's bouquet / aroma without the need to add water but adding water is an alchemy exercise - sometimes it works other times not much difference. One thing: I never add ice to whiskies.

  • What about Glenlivet. This is also a great scotch whisky... great on the rocks

  • Also, you can see Glenlivet being reviewed by me at youtube.

  • @michaelyblam lol very nice videos and nice shirt :D

  • Tried the 16yo and it's one helluva fine whisky. But...$120 in Ontario!

  • I'm just trying the Scapa 16yr. and your 'tinned pear' smell observation was just the description I was looking for! I haven't had tinned pear for years! There are a lot of sweet smells in there, I'm getting a whiff baked potato too. It's an amazing whisky, and a surprisingly long finish too, for such light flavours.
