Because you only get one question... If you asked them that then I guess you would know who the liar and the truthteller were, but you stilll wouldn't know what door to go through.

theres a way to always get the correct door= ask one of them "What would you say if i asked you 'is that the right door?'" the truth teller would say that door number 1 was wrong, the liar WOULD have said that door 1 is the right door, when really it is wrong, but he does not tell the truth, so he would say it is the wrong door.
