The Prophet said, "A matron should not be given in marriage except after consulting her; and a virgin should not be given in marriage except after her permission." The people asked, "O Allah's Apostle! How can we know her permission?" He said, "Her silence (in case she is shy indicates her permission)."

Forced marriages are NOT allowed in Islam.These are bad customs in some societies including non-muslim ones.

Thanks for replying. I understand and accept that forced marriage is NOT approved by Islam, and that it takes place in other cultures, BUT..... the caption you quote (where from?), suggests that the 'matron' or 'virgin' concerned still does not give her permission, she is silent!

It is a Hadith in Sahih Bukhari Volume 7, Book 62, Number 67.

In some cultures virgins maybe too shy to say the words to their parents,they may just be shy and blush.But the point is they cannot be forced.

If a woman is forced into a marriage she can get it nullified.Khansa bint Khidam was a woman who asked the Prophet about such a marriages and he told her that it can be invalidated if the woman wants.

Hello I was asked a question before hand by a non muslim they said; "how come sex before marriage in Islam is prohibited, surely if two people love each other regardless if they are married or not should have the option to have sex" I was unsure on how to answer this question, if anyone can supply a reason that is both sensible, logical and correct in Islam I would apreciate it greatly

The basic answer is that the Love of Allah is more important then the love of this temporal world and anyone in it.Life is a test and one must obey Allah as best as one can.

@kamsmelon1 Yes God does not permit oppression and we must all be aware of our intentions.

Islam is simply submission to the One God i.e. worshiping Him alone without associating partners with him.This includes rejecting false deities such as idols,statues,natural objects as well as one's vain desires.

Worshiping God includes servitude and devotion to God.This includes following God's commands as He sent down to His Prophets & Messengers.The last of whom was Prophet Muhammad.
