The United States Intelligence Community (IC) is a cooperative federation of 16 separate United States government agencies that work separately and together to conduct intelligence activities considered necessary for the conduct of foreign relations and the protection of the national security of the United States. Member organizations of the IC include intelligence agencies, military intelligence, and civilian intelligence and analysis offices within federal executive departments. The IC is led by the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), who reports to the President of the United States.

Among their varied responsibilities, the members of the Community collect and produce foreign and domestic intelligence, contribute to military planning, and perform espionage. The IC was established by Executive Order 12333, signed on 4 December 1981 by President Ronald Reagan.

The IC consists of 16 members (also called elements). The Central Intelligence Agency is an independent agency of the United States government. The other 15 elements are offices or bureaus within federal executive departments. The IC is led by the Director of National Intelligence, whose office, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), is not listed as a member of the IC. * Independent agencies o Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) * United States Department of Defense o Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency (AF ISR or AIA) o Army Military Intelligence (MI) o Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) o Marine Corps Intelligence Activity (MCIA) o National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) o National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) o National Security Agency (NSA) o Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) * United States Department of Energy o Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence (OICI) * United States Department of Homeland Security o Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) o Coast Guard Intelligence (CGI) * United States Department of Justice o Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) o Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) * United States Department of State o Bureau of Intelligence and Research (INR) * United States Department of the Treasury o Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence (TFI)

Intelligence Community Oversight duties are distributed to both the Executive and Legislative branches. Primary Executive oversight is performed by the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board, the Joint Intelligence Community Council, the Office of the Inspector General, and the Office of Management and Budget. Primary congressional oversight jurisdiction over the IC is assigned to two committees: the United States House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the United States Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. The House Armed Services Committee and Senate Armed Services Committee draft bills to annually authorize the budgets of DoD intelligence activities, and both the House and Senate appropriations committees annually draft bills to appropriate the budgets of the IC. The Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs took a leading role in formulating the intelligence reform legislation in the 108th Congress.

  • Come to mention it he was always talking about an old mutual mate of ours, a mechanic or electrician named "Hanson" who was electrocuted to death in a tree near his home at the time - Wulguru.

  • Re the below, that was all around late 20th cent. When I commenced plain clothes in TVL child protection office jan 2001, bumped into Hancock who, believe it or not was doing a two week stint in my office as a first year constable. NEEDLESS to say he wasn't kicked out despite the fact that I went round telling everyone I could that he was a compulsive lying strange cunt. Corruption no doubt 'cause CIB wanted to be taking to all the fishing hot spots. sure nuff he got the transfer @!!!!!!!!!!

  • I used to know a bloke named Jason Hancock. Went to Grammar School with him and Terry Browne. Completely strange. After school became a baker. Was also a highly skilled horse trainer and fisherman. Wehn working as a uniformed connie in big capital city bumbed back into him one Friday night at The Exchange. He was all excited about me being a state cop. I lost interest but. Later my twin rang me to tell me that Hancock was boasting about being in TVL CIB. I never. put in official report

  • @GOPsithlord YES WE CAN! yes yes yes yes. THE RIGHT IS DEAD!

  • @GOPsithlord "You can do better than ad hominem yes?"

You called Agee "traitor." I called you "idiot."

    Who used the ad hominem?

Unlike you, Philip Agee ended his life as a citizen of the world, not the unquestioning, dutiful flunkey of some national oligarchy. Given this, it is you, not Agee, who is the traitor: a traitor of the working class. Your kind will be eradicated in due course.

You may now return to praying to your lord and savior, the political party you worship.

  • @bapyou Me? Or Agee? You can do better than ad hominem yes?
