Russian Capture German K98 Mauser, purchased at GI Joes. Russians refurbed them and stored them after WW2 and they are hitting the surplus market. For $249 out the door(in Oregon, $239 for the rifle and $10 for the back ground check), I'd rate a MUST HAVE for anyone who likes to shoot historical rifles.

The jam that occurred is only encountered when single loading, if I had some quality stripper clips I wouldn't have an issue. For some reason the Turkish ones I had didn't work for crap(but the ammo is kinda crappy too).

  • Not bad at all, but recoil is more or less subjective. Hold it firmly against your shoulder and it's not bad.

  • fun facts: The Russians were sore afraid of the k98 Rifle. Whenever they actually captured a few of them, they took them apart and shipped them away from the front hoping the Germans wouldn't recapture them. It was the most accurate and versatile weapon on that front, with the ability to attach even sniper scopes to the top. One way you can tell if its authentic(from the Russian front) is if it has a serial number from a Russian factory where they reassembled and numbered the rifles :D

  • @GraySolid14 No firearms can be owned at all ? Nobody hunts ? That is sad.

  • @GraySolid14 I did not know that ! So, Nobody Hunts ? I have friends that say the mauser KAR 98 is a very well made and accurate rifle . I normally shoot a 7mm magnum or 30.06 . Both are browning semi- auto BAR.

  • @Claretcross Because firearms aren't allowed to be owned in Germany. Damn, I think I'll emigrate to the USA!

  • This is an awesome rifle

  • @GraySolid14 Why can you not own a k98 Mauser ?

  • @jres1 The load can make a noticeable difference in perceived recoil, too.

  • So sad not to be allowed to own a k98k. Even more for me considering the fact that I am german.

  • @migratorycocanut I'd be afraid of any rifle! lol

  • @SuperGreenday22 he's holding it the right way. a mauser isnt exactly light (4.2kgs) and by having the hand at its balance point its way easier to aim. its how i aim my K98

  • @migratorycocanut i have a 1940 Russian Refurb
