  • What do start at 5:37?

  • @tomgo92

It's the scherzo(2nd movement) of the 9th symphony by Anton Bruckner.

  • Please can anyone tell me what's the last piece played. I know the first is Mahler's 9th symphony, and then Bernstein conducts Mahler's 5th

  • It is the Scherzo form the 9th symphony by Bruckner.

  • @sleepbag45 Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony, 2nd Movement

  • His joke @ 1:07 is very funny lol

  • What piece is playing at 2:33?

  • By the way, the editing and intercutting of Bernstein and Karajan rehearsing the fifth is really masterful. Beautifully done. Karajan ends on a joke; Bernstein ends with his exhaustion and annoyance at hard days work of the first movement. Took a page from Coppola there, maybe? Excellent.

  • @tomgo92 Bruckner 9 Scherzo

  • Von Karajan may have had the bigger mind for music, and Bernstein may have had the bigger soul. In the end, as human ego is forgotten after death, it doesn't matter much. They are both remembered as pillars to humanity and the transcendental power of music. They are probably having a beer together right now, in some other dimension, along with Beethoven and others and laughing at jokes.

  • What do start at 5:37 ?

  • thanks so much
